2 HR Loved the Nutcracker

Today we went to see the The Classic Nutcracker at the O'Shaugnessy Theatre in St. Paul.  The Minnesota Ballet put on the production.  Sophia, from Miss Olson's class was in the ballet.  The kids lit up with excitement when she came on stage.  It was a wonderful production-the costumes were beautiful.

December Lunch Bunch

Here is the December Lunch Bunch crew...  We ate our school lunches plus crackers from the teacher.  We also chatted and watch the beginning of Balto - perfect timing since it was snowing outside!  Remember to bring back your reading calendar at the end of each month so you can join the fun!

Even our Tattle Monster joined in - it ate the rest of the crackers!

A Trip to City Hall

We have been learning about local, state and federal governments in our class.  Today we took a field trip to the Roseville City Hall to learn about our local government.  We visited the council chambers, the police department, the fire department and public works.  We met our mayor-Dan Roe-what a nice guy!

Of course the kids LOVED the jail cell!

Asking Mayor Roe a question.

The community officer gave us a tour of the jail.

These boys were impressed with the heavy-duty lock and key!

The new fire department is stunning!  This fire fighter showed us a timeline of the department.

The kids learned about firefighters specialized gear.

Sitting in the police car!

The public works department is in charge of our streets.

Sitting in the fire truck!

Fire truck shot!

We had a wonderful time-thank you to the city of Roseville!

Explorers and iPads

Today we worked with a partner on explorer research on the iPads!  We used Pebble Go to learn about explorers-both past and present.  We will be discussing the different tools explorers use, their character traits and what they are exploring and discovering.
