During indoor recess the kids have options.  They can be in the hallway either drawing, playing board game or building with a variety of blocks or cubes.  Kids can also stay in the classroom to watch a video, a bookflix, "do jobs" for the teachers or read quietly.  These kids chose to get creative in the hallway.

Indoor recess helpers - much appreciated by the teachers!

One sunny afternoon we had "spring fever."  We just had to get outside to build a snowman right in front of our classroom window!  Unfortunately, the snow wasn't sticky enough to create big snowballs so we moved to "Plan B."  Here is our version of a sand castle - it's our "snow castle."  We made two big ones with moats, tunnels and a connecting bridge with heart shaped decorations.  It was so much fun to connect our hands through the tunnels!

 Reader's Theatre Action...
On this day a couple guided reading groups did a quick reading for the class.  They did a great job!  The rest of the class also practice their "best behavior" audience skills.  We enjoyed it so much that everyone is going to start a reader's theatre project after spring break.  Watch for more pictures to come!

2nd Grade Meteorologists

Today we finished up our weather TV's.  On the front of our TV's we illustrated a weather outlook.  We then created ourselves out of construction paper and glued ourselves on the front of the TV-just like a meteorologist!  When you open up the TV you will find a picture of our extreme weather topic (blizzard, flood, thunderstorm, tornado, hurricane or tsunami).

Hot Buttered Toast and Books!!!!

On Friday we celebrated the All School Reading Party. We just finished reading Mercy Watson books so we thought we'd have hot buttered toast (Mercy the pigs favorite snack)! Mrs. Hinderer and her son stopped by and brought an awesome snack...candy bar cars complete with a teddy graham driver!
