Field Trip to Como Conservatory
April 22, 2015
Today our class went on a field trip to the Como Zoo Conservatory.  We took a class called "Plants that Care."  We learned that plants take care of us by providing oxygen, food, shelter and even clothing.  Did you know that a dollar bill has cotton in it?  It's true!  That's why a bill doesn't get ruined when it goes through the wash.

We also got to make scented bath soap, we went on a scavenger hunt and we saw cool animals that live in the Conservatory (an anaconda snake, a HUGE tarantula and a sloth to name a few).  We also enjoyed watching the koi fish - there were hundreds of them!  It was an interesting and enjoyable morning at Como.

"Plants that Care" Class
Here we are with Jessie.  She taught us about specific uses for special plants.  While we were at the front table with her we learned about plants that are turned into medicines and we got to see the tree that produces the bean that chocolate comes from (a cocoa).  Then we moved to the back tables where we made bath salts.  Some of us scented our salt with eucalyptus while other chose lavender or peppermint.  The last activity we did with Jessie was a game where we review facts and learned new ones.  Our class did a great job!
